Colleen Beard


Colleen Beard is Head of the Map, Data & GIS Library at Brock University. She holds a BSc degree in Physical Geography and Geology, and a Master of Library and Information Science. She is committed to promoting geospatial literacy on campus, and more recently to the wider community through an initiative Geomatics Niagara. Her passion, or addiction rather, is utilizing emerging technologies to stage the rich historical map collections for locals to explore. Her recent publication reveals some of these stories, Mapping the Welland Canals and the St. Lawrence Seaway with Google Earth, in Historical GIS Research in Canada, edited by Jennifer Bonnell and Marcel Fortin.
